How Do I Love Thee…

1 Aug

Let me count the ways.

Three years ago today I said ‘I do’. Little did I know how that moment was just the start. I could not have ever known the love we had as a couple would multiply as a man and wife. Every day I know how lucky I am to face this world with my best friend by my side.

Happy anniversary to the man who keeps me balanced, yet still sweeps me off my feet.

A Housiversary

2 Jun

Happy Saturday, everyone! It is the weeeeeekend! <doing my own dance party>

I am so pumped for this weekend, more than usual and I kept thinking to myself, “what is so different about this weekend?” Can you guess? That’s right, no long run! The half-mary is behind me and I fully intend to enjoy this Saturday morning sans alarm clock for the first time in months.

It is almost sad how excited I am. Did I dread training that much? No. Did it inconvenience me that much? No. So, what is with the excitement? Maybe it is knowing that those months of training paid off and I completed one of my life goals.

We had plans to be out of town this weekend, but I begged Phil to reschedule so we could stay home; between my travel and his and our busy lives, I need some R&R in my own home. Do you ever feel that way, where you just want to be around your own things. So, we adjusted and are staying home.

Maybe part of my urge comes from a very exciting time that has come around – one year ago we moved into our house!!

I can hardly believe it has been that long, the time has flown by. It was exactly one year ago that we signed our papers the Friday of Memorial Day weekend, had a celebration lunch and then drove up to Traverse City for the Bayshore (I ran the 10k last year). The following weekend we moved into our beloved home.

And now here we are again, but this year with a half under my belt, so many amazing memories, updates and projects have happened. We have celebrated birthdays, promotions, holidays have had visitors, friends, family fill our home, met our wonderful neighbors and really have become part of the community. I love our house (seriously, I want to give it a hug). It has brought me a sense of peace – I feel grounded. I have a place to focus my energy, it is a warm home that has a ‘door always open’ policy, a home filled with laughter and dreams.

With our third anniversary arround the corner and our first house anniversary upon us, this Saturday I am taking in the goodness that is in my life. The goodness that is my life.

May Day

1 May

Ah, Tuesday, nice to see you! Monday was kind-of a blur thanks to a lack of caffeine, rain and a busy work day. But, now that the first day of the week is over, we can officially say we are working our way to the weekend! (Jumping the gun a bit? Maybe.)

Also, HAPPY MAY DAY! Yay, we are past the spring months, at least in my mind. May always feels like the start of summer to me. The first of the month is also Phil and my anniversary (we started dating and were married on the first of the month, so we celebrate every month). Today marks 2 years and 9 months of marital bliss and five years and two months together. We always celebrate in a little way, just to let the other person know we’re thinking of them.

Last night, Phil had class until 10pm and then had to be up just a few short hours later. So, I semi-homemade some cinnamon buns that he promptly dug into when he got home and took to work with him today. It’s the little things. 🙂

The weather is a bit rainy this morning, but is predicted to reach 70 degrees by 4pm…whoo, hoo! I postponed my am workout (against my better judgement) so I can take my run to the pavement post-work. This is not the smartest idea as I am MUCH more likely to skip the workout all together, but I have a feeling the warm sun will draw me outside.

In other workout news, I tried some Tone It Up circuits last night and really liked them. The girls are super cute and motivating. I am thinking about jumping on this train post – Best Body Bootcamp, which ends this week. Sad.

Do you celebrate May Day? My dad used to say, “Happy __(fill in the month)__ 1st!” every month. And now the first of the month always reminds me of him. Funny how those things stick with you.

Hope you’re having a great day!
