Date Night

21 Jul

Sometimes a blog can be really inspiring. A while back, I was reading a post by Peanut Butter Fingers talking about her date nights. What an awesome idea! I floated it by Phil suggesting we should implement a date night once a month for ourselves. We tend to have the same schedule on week nights; cooking dinner together and then sitting down together. I love that. However, it is also really fun to get dressed up and go out.

This past weekend was my first time planning date night. We decided that there are a few rules:

  1. Get dressed up. This should be treated like a date not just a way to get food in our bellies.
  2. The person responsible for the date night gets to plan everything.
  3. Not only that, it is a surprise to the one you are taking out.
  4. No serious adult talk.

I was really nervous and excited for our date night, I knew just the place to go. Phil has been asking to try Buca di Beppo for over two years. Don’t ask me why. But, I thought it was the perfect opportunity! We got ready and headed out.

Actually, the place was pretty cool. If you have never been, each room is decorated in a different ‘scene’.

We started out with some sangria that was very tasty and bread with olive oil. The bread was just alright, a little disappointing for an Italian restaurant.

And then came the food. Whoa, they aren’t kidding that this food comes family style. But it was really good.

After dinner, we headed to downtown Northville. On Friday evenings they have a band come and play and close down Main Street.

We were lucky enough to score a seat out on the patio at the restaurant across the street.

We had a great time relaxing, talking and enjoying each others company. It was really fun to take the time to slow down and spend time with your love.

Do you have any special tradition?

Now I get to be surprised next month for his date night!! I LOVE surprises!
