Cooking Class at Edwards

4 Oct

Last night I did something I have been interested in for a long time – I took a cooking class!

A local restaurant offers cooking classes once a month with different themes. When I recieved the email listing the upcoming classes, I tagged a few and asked one of my friends if she wanted to join. We decided to sign up for Soup is On! Harvest Soup Class.

We arrived at the restaurant at 6:15pm, checked in and gathered with the rest of the group back in the kitchen. We quickly realized that this was not hands on, which was disapointing, I’m not going to lie. But then they came around with these amazing adult cocktails and suddently our mood changed. 🙂

The instructor was one of the owners and her daughter. It is a family-run business that focuses on good food that is fresh and local. Most of the soups were made with vegetables from the daughter’s garden.

We were given recipe cards with teh basics, but were able to add our own notes as well. Chris (the owner) took the lead on cooking the soups walking us through the process and sharing some great tips, not to mention she was a hoot. Her daughter and her were like a stand-up comdey show!

When each soup was wrapping up, the daughter came around with mini samples. One thing I loved is that they included a garnish for each soup.

The last one is a sweeter soup that was served with a fresh donut. The picture is a mess, but it was delicious.

We had a great time and I’m so glad I went because nothing beats a night out with a friend laughing and eating good food.
