It’s the Little Things

23 Jan

This week has been a whirl-wind! Although I typically have busy weeks, this one was out of control! However, there were some highlights that helped me get through and brightened my day.

  • PG had Monday off of work, so he put Henry in the car and drove to meet me halfway between our house and my work for a picnic dinner. He surprised me with one of my favs;  Jimmy Johns and orange Stewarts soda. It was so fun to change-up my usual routine and actually see PG on Monday (I stay up in Lansing after work on Monday for skating practice and then spend the night at my aunt and uncle’s so I can go to work Tuesday morning). I always miss  my boys so much on Monday nights – being spontaneous made me smile for days.
  • Sticking to your work out routine. As I mentioned, this was really tough week, but knocking out my WO and marking my calendar was great feeling of accomplishment in the middle of all the chaos.
  • A great bottle of wine from my home town.
  • Making it to my FAVORITE spin class for the first time in 6 months. Happiness.
  • Dinners out with friends; a good laugh goes a long way.
  • Henry’s excitement when I come home. He jumps up and down as if it is Christmas every time 🙂
  • Phone chats with each member of my family…they are some of my best friends and a quality hour chat fills my heart.
  • Hard boiled eggs. Can’t get enough this week, so yum!
  • My new super cute shirt from BR – gave me some serious confidence for my big meeting this week.
  • A good nap. Some times you just need a little R&R!

Some times it is truly the little things in life that mean the most. Happy Sunday 🙂

On Our Way

24 Dec

After weeks of prepping, shopping, wrapping, baking and packing we made it to Christmas Eve! I’m so excited for the next few days of family time. And when I say family time, I mean four whole days with my favorites!!

But let me back up. I am a bit of a workout lover. I really enjoy being active every day. Despite the fact that it’s a holiday, I jumped out of bed and headed to spin class with a new instructor. This always makes me nervous. In my opinion two things make or break a class; music and the instructor. But to my delight one of my favorite yoga instructors was teaching and her music ranged from Transiberian Orchestra to Wham to Poisin. Yes please!! I left a hot, sweaty mess- love it. I quick headed home to get the day started.

We are spending today with PG’s family including church and Christmas Eve dinner and then gifts with his mom. But in the mornng we are hitting the road again and will be headed to my home!!

I am so excited, this will be the first time in way too long that the three of us kids will be together. My older sister and younger brother are two of my best friends- we have such a blast together. My sister’s husband (his name is Phil, too. Yes, it’s very odd that my sis and I both married Phils- what are the odds?!) is such a character, love him. Once the five of us get together (plus the two Phils) there’s no telling what will happen!

I hope everyone is having a very happy, relaxing and safe holiday.
